01-side-quests
A side quest to start them all
Welcome in this first issue!
The journey is going to be long but rest assured it’s going to be a fun one.
As first order of business I think it would be important to define what domoroshi is.
Domoroshi is a nice composite word that you won’t find anywhere, why? You may ask yourself, and the answer is as simple as, I made it up.
I made it up but bear with me, it has a meaning, it comes from:
-
Domo as the ablative form of domus (meaning "from home")
-
Rōshi (老師) is a Japanese honorific title meaning "old teacher" or "old master," used in Zen Buddhism to denote a highly respected, senior teacher or master.
Together they would literally mean: old master from home, but playing a bit with the meanings of the words, the old teacher from home, intended as: the master in your own home, considering that the ablative in latin allows you to construct, what in English we would call phrasal verbs.
The whole idea is to create a safe harbor where to creativity runs wild. Whether it be websites, saas, products, passion projects, games development vlogs, pixel art or whatever project I’m wortking on at the moment; domoroshi is the display of how a human mind can learn, project, build and uplift itself. An original outlet where AI sloppy ideas are not allowed, a place where the reader can identify themselves, in the struggles, in the victories. A place where whys are the only driving force, because you don’t have to create just to make money, because domoroshi is a journey to knowledge, a statement to originality and individuality; A statement to freedom, to be and to create.

Who’s behind domoroshi?
Salvo, Gabriele Salvo…yeah, James Bond still does it better.
I’m not a fan of telling the story of my life but a bit of context might be of aid.
Geographic wise: I come from la bella Italia, but now I’m currently in the Netherlands, not cycling anywhere.
Accademic wise: I pursed my BSc in Computer Science in Pisa and now I’m completing my master degree in AI & engineering Systems at TU/e
Work wise: I currently work at Aircision as a data scientist and I lead the subsection of the R&D to improve the link based on the data we have at our disposal.
Project wise: Here things get interesting; i have my own company where I do consulting, tech and AI related and also teach professionals about python, java and AI for the workfoce. All of this doesn’t stop me to continuisly side quest and actually do tech projects I want to do,a nd that’s the whole core of domoroshi.
Personal wise: I want to be free. Free to choose, free to be and free to live with my wife on our terms; and that’s all you need to know.

What are we going to talk about?
So many things. Really.
Each Issue will follow a really precise format:
01 → Project at hand
02 → How and why do we need this project
03 → Which were the dos and donts of the project
04 → What's the thought process that lead me to complete the project
05 → Will it have a future?
This 5 step approach it’s going to be the general rule of thumb to face any topic at hand but who knows, it might change, it may improve via feedback or we could take another style down the road. One thing is given: every monday you will have a carefully crafted email that hopefully will teach you something or simply reignite your curiosity even if for 5 minutes.

Thank you for joining me in this journey! See you next monday!
